The Burnley Cup

A year long competition (free to enter) to award the player of the year at Burnley Golf Club. Each week points will be awarded to players based on Saturday results. There will also be a series of Trophy Events throughout the year that will be worth more points. At the end of the year the player with the most accumulated points will win the Burnley Cup and receive the title of Player of the Year. The more you play the more points you earn.

Trophy Event Descriptions

Burnley Matchplay Championship Scratch and Handicap (Jan-March)

A knock-out Matchplay competition for both a handicap and scratch division. Will be held over 3 months with players organising their match times and then texting results to match committee. Final of both divisions will be held on same day at the rear of the Saturday field (March)

Men's & Mixed Foursome Championship - February

An 18 hole Foursome (alternate shot) competition where teams can either be Men or Mixed Team (also qualifying event for VGL Foursome championship). Winner will be best net score.

3 Player Team Summer Shield - March

A 3 player team event (Stableford). Before the start of the first round players have to nominate their team (do not have to play in the same group). Best 2 of the completed 3 rounds will count to total with worst round serving as the countback score. Individual Stableford competition will also be held on the day.

Captains V's Presidents Trophy - June

A 2 team event where the field is split in two and the final total being the sum of all players on each team with the Captain and the President being the leader of each team. Individual Stableford competition will also be held on the day.

Winter Cup (36 holes) - July

A 36 hole Stableford event with the winner being the highest 36 hole total and the 2nd round used as the countback score.

Rich River Championship - (August)

The away trip weekend to Rich River will include 36 hole tournament with a Trophy for the winner (format yet to be determined).

Fourball Championship - (September)

A 18 hole Fourball better ball with teams of 2. Highest stableford score as winner.

Burnley Club Championship (54 Holes) - (October)

The Burnley Club championship held over 3 consecutive weekends and 54 holes. Points will be awarded to each grade.
